The sequel to the 1994 game Tekken, Tekken 2 revamps the original's graphical fidelity, character combos, and other gameplay mechanics. It later received a "Ver.B" revision that fixes several gameplay aspects, with a re-release unlocking all the hidden characters from the start. It is set two years after the first King of Iron Fist Tournament, where Kazuya Mishima defeated his father Heihachi and became the new ruthless CEO of the Mishima Zaibatsu. After learning of Heihachi's return, Kazuya decides to form another King of the Iron Fist Tournament to draw out and rid his enemies once and for all. Chief among the competitors are Jun Kazama, a jujutsu practitioner who senses Kazuya's supernatural presence. The game received a home console port for the Sony PlayStation in Japan on March 1996, in North America on August 1996, and in Europe on October 1996. This version was later digitally released for compatible PlayStation Network consoles (as a PSOne Classics title) in Japan on November 22, 2006, in North America on December 4, 2006, and in Europe on August 4, 2010.Characters The game includes 23 playable characters, 25 if counting both Kazuya's "Devil" form and Angel, as well as both Roger and Alex, as unique characters. Earlier arcade versions, as well as the PS1 version, only had 10 of these characters playable from the start, with the others as hidden opponents.Unlike in the previous game, all hidden characters can be playable in the Arcade version, either as time-based unlocks or cheat commands, although they were made playable from the start in later versions. In the PS1 version, they are unlocked after certain conditions are met (usually clearing the game with certain other fighters).Although Jun is typically unlocked by default in both the Arcade and PS1 versions, this can be changed by operators in certain Arcade versions to Baek for the Korean market. This can also affect their sub-boss, with the default character's sub-boss being Wang and the hidden character's sub-boss being Law.New AdditionsJun Kazama - A Japanese officer of the wildlife protection organization WWWC, entering the tournament using her family's style of traditional jujutsu in order to arrest Kazuya for smuggling protected animals.Lei Wulong - A Chinese detective of Hong Kong's International Police Force, entering the tournament using his unique brand of kung fu (with elements of wǔ xíng quán and zuì quán) to investigate Kazuya's connections with the International Mafia.Hidden OpponentsBaek Doo San - A Korean master of Taekwondo and former champion of the sport, blackmailed into attacking the martial arts school of Marshall Law. Sub-boss for Law.Bruce Irvin - An American master of Muay Thai who was involved in the death of Lei Wulong's partner, later becoming a mercenary working for Kazuya. Sub-boss for Lei.Roger / Alex - Genetically-engineered animals created for Kazuya's military use by Dr. Bosconovitch, with Roger created from kangaroo DNA and Alex created from dinosaur DNA. Both are model-swapped characters, share most of their attacks with King, and are fought as secret mid-bosses. Roger is the sub-boss for Alex and vice-versa.Angel - A mysterious being resembling an angel, serving as the final boss for Devil-form Kazuya. She is a model-swap of Devil Kazuya.Returning CharactersHeihachi MishimaPaul PheonixMarshall LawJack-2 (an updated version of the original Jack)Nina WilliamsKingYoshimitsuMichelle ChangHidden OpponentsLee Chaolan (sub-boss for Heihachi)Kuma (sub-boss for Paul)Wang Jinrei (sub-boss for Jun)Prototype Jack (sub-boss for Jack-2)Anna Williams (sub-boss for Nina)Armor King (sub-boss for King)Ganryu (sub-boss for Yoshimitsu)Kunimitsu (sub-boss for Michelle)Kazuya Mishima (penultimate boss, has a unique hidden "Devil" form that serves as the game's final boss)StagesMorning Fields - Jun Kazama's stageSerene Forest - Yoshimitsu's stageAthens, Greece - Nina Williams stageGreat Wall - Marshall Law's stagePagoda Temple - Heihachi Mishima's stageNew York - Paul Phoenix's stageFactory Plant in Akibahara - Jack-2's stageChurch Sanctuary - King's stageArizona Desert - Michelle Chang's stageHong Kong Rooftops - Lei Wulong's stageSzechwan Fields - Wang Jinrei's stageCambodian Wetlands - Kunimitsu's stageTaj Mahal - Anna Williams' stageKorean Temple - Beak Doo San's stageChicago Launch Pad - Lee Chaolan's stageAcropolis - Kuma's stageLondon Ruins - Prototype Jack's stageNowhere Desert - Armour King's stageKyoto at Sunset - Ganryu's stageGrand Canyon - Bruce Irvin's stageEternal Darkness - Kazuya Mishima's stageMirror Darkness - Devil/Angel stageBeach - Roger's stageAcropolis - Alex's stage
