The monkeys are contacted by star-crossed lovers of Monktropolis in the land of Kongri-La, and endeavor to help the couple by completing tasks for their two cities to heal the rift. After, they must then complete some harder challenges at their home on Jungle Island to prepare for the couple's marriage.The game moves away from the series of obstacle courses that defined the previous games in the Super Monkey Ball series, and instead has the monkeys exploring a series of larger maps completing objectives. The game retains the mini-game modes of the Super Monkey Ball series, including variants of Monkey Race, Monkey Fight, Monkey Target, Monkey Tag, Monkey Bounce and Monkey Cannon. The player can also compete in a Challenge Mode that lets them play regular Super Monkey Ball stages.
