Oniken’s campaign features 6 missions, with each mission containing 3 stages. There are 11 bosses and 10 mini-bosses to fight throughout the story. In addition to the campaign Oniken offers 2 game modes, Boss Rush and Hardcore. In Hardcore mode the player receives a single life, no energy recovery between stages, double damage from enemies, and game over sends the player back to mission 1, completion awards an additional secret to the player. StoryWhen global war nearly wipes out all of humankind, an evil corporation known as Oniken seizes power over the remaining survivors. A small rebel movement organizes and begins attacking the oppressive Oniken organization. For unknown reasons a ninja mercenary Zaku visits the rebels and offers his services, he might be the rebels last chance at freedom from the tyrannical Oniken.
