NFL Blitz '99

NFL Blitz '99, often stylized simply as Blitz '99, is an over-the-top 3D football game developed and released by Midway for arcades in August 1998.
The second installment of the NFL Blitz (Franchise) series, NFL Blitz '99 updates the roster for the NFL's 1999 season while adding more gameplay mechanics (such as adding an "On Fire" mechanic, similar to the NBA Jam (Franchise) series), additional Plays and stadiums, and a bonus trivia mini-game. Though conversion kits allowed for two-player configurations based on upgrading an original NFL Blitz (Game) cabinet, NFL Blitz '99 is the first game in the series to allow up to four players to play simultaneously. One unique feature added in NFL Blitz '99 is the "Create-A-Play" mode, where players can forego their credit to instead create new plays and formations for use on their player profile. The game's deluxe cabinet can also include a unique Nintendo 64 Controller Pak reader that allows players to import plays from the Nintendo 64 version of the original NFL Blitz. Like the original game, Blitz '99 is a fast-moving, arcade-style football game that takes numerous liberties with the rules of football, such as lengthening the distance required for a first down and allowing "late hits," which appear in the form of various post-play tackles and wrestling maneuvers. As in many of Midway's other arcade sports titles, the action is commentated by Tim Kitzrow (Person). It was later succeeded by NFL Blitz 2000 Gold Edition. The game, as well as the original NFL Blitz (Game) and NFL Blitz 2000 Gold Edition, were later bundled together in a home Arcade1Up machine.
