The game is an anomaly of sorts due to the fact that unlike most entries in the series, the game lacks the NFL license, and thus none of the authentic NFL team names, logos, or other identifying characteristics are included. However, Madden Football 64 does feature the license of the NFL Players Association, allowing the game to include the authentic rosters for each team.
