Overview K-1 The Arena Fighters, known in Japan as Fighting Illusion: K-1 Grand Prix, is a 3D kickboxing fighting game developed by Daft and published by Xing Entertainment for the Sony PlayStation in Japan on August 9, 1996, with an overseas release by THQ in North America on February 28, 1997 and in Europe on May 1997.
The first in a series of games based on the K-1 promotion, The Arena Fighters puts players as one of eight real-life kickboxers from around the world as they fight in a series of one-on-one kickboxing matches using K-1's rules to determine who is the "World's Strongest Man".It later received a port to the Sega Saturn on January 31, 1997, released exclusively in Japan as Fighting Illusion Shou: K-1 Grand Prix.
