IL-2 Sturmovik is a combat flight simulator set in Europe during World War II. It features many realistic aircraft to pilot, a variety of single player missions to undertake and a multiplayer component. IL-2 was released on Nov. 18, 2001.
The game has a large planning mode before every mission where the player is shown flight paths, objectives etc.
