Overview F-1 World Grand Prix is a formula car racing game developed by Paradigm Entertainment and published by Video System for the Nintendo 64 in North America on July 27, 1998, in Europe on September 14, 1998, and in Japan on December 18, 1998.
It is the first of several 3D revivals of Video System's F-1 Grand Prix series of licensed Formula One racing games, featuring circuits, teams, and drivers from the 1997 Formula One season and new simulation-style gameplay (in behind-the-back third-person or first-person cockpit views). It also features Rumble Pak support.Along with a Grand Prix mode that simulates the season (with the option to have it follow seasonal standings accurately), the game features two-player splitscreen multiplayer and a "Challenge" mode that tasks players with jumping into real scenarios from the season mid-race and making the best out of them.Paradigm later developed a sequel for the 1998 Formula One season, with F-1 World Grand Prix II. Video System also re-used the name for some of their later 1999-2000 adaptations of the sport, including their in-house Dreamcast release, their in-house handheld Game Boy Color release, and Lankhor's PlayStation and Windows PC releases. The DC and GBC versions are based on the 1998 Formula One season, while the PS1 and PC versions are based on the 1999 Formula One season.
