Aztec Adventure: The Golden Road to Paradise

Aztec Adventure is an action game that was released on the Sega Master System by Sega in 1987 in Japan, and 1988 in Europe and the US.

OverviewNazca '88: The Golden Road to Paradise is an action game where the player assumes the role of an adventurer named Niño as he attempts to find a lost paradise somewhere in Peru.
Though Nazca features heavily in the game (especially the famous Nazca Lines) the Western releases place the game far further North in Central America, in the ancient territory of the Aztecs. The game plays as a top-down perspective, as Niño races to beat three rival adventurers (which are controlled by the CPU) to the target. This involves crossing through deserts, jungles, marshes and ruins, destroying various enemies on the way with found weapons. The player can also hire computer-controlled helpers, by throwing money bags at certain enemies, who will assist them in their battles and increase the player character's projectile weapon strength. The game was retitled Aztec Adventures, with the story based in Aztec settings for international releases, though the elements of the former culture, including the Nazca Lines, can still be seen.
