Humongous Entertainment
Founded by Ron Gilbert and Shelley Day, Humongous Entertainment created numerous children's educational and adventure games starring original characters such as Freddi Fish, Pajama Sam and Spy Fox. The company is also well-known for its popular Backyard Sports series starring pro athletes as kids.
History
Humongous Entertainment was founded in 1992 by CEO
Shelley Day and Creative Director
Ron Gilbert, both ex-
Lucasarts employees. Know for their cute characters and mini-games within their otherwise point-and-click adventure games, they became very successful in the early 1990's. However, the company lost prominence because of lots of companies buying different companies. It started in 1996 with a buyout by GT Interactive. GT Interactive was then indirectly purchased by Infogrames Inc. Infogrames Inc. then bought out Hasbro Interactive which had the rights to the Atari name, and in November 1999 Infogrames Inc. was reincorporated Atari, SA.
