Embracer Group is a holding company based in Sweden that rose to prominence in 2020 after acquiring over 100 studios. By 2024, many of these studios were either closed or divested.
Overview
Embracer Group AB was founded in 2011 as Nordic Games Licensing AB, the parent company of Nordic Games. Since 2011, Embracer Group has acquired a great many of development studios as well as intellectual properties from defunct studios.
Subsidiaries
The company once consisted of twelve separate operative groups that maintain a total of 135 studios in forty-five countries. In April 2024, the company restructured into three main groups; Asmodee Group, Coffee Stain & Friends, and Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends.
