Cryptic Studios
Cryptic Studios is best known for their hit title City of Heroes and its subsequent expansion, City of Villains, both of which have earned numerous awards by popular gaming websites.
Cryptic Studios was at first an independent MMO (Massiviely Multiplayer Online) games developer for PC and 7th generation consoles. In December 2008, Cryptic Studios was bought by Atari, Inc. for 26.7 million dollars. In August 2011, Chinese MMO developer Perfect World completed its acquisition on Cryptic Studios from Atari, Inc for an estimated 49.8 million dollars.
Cryptic's first game, the comic book-themed MMORPG City of Heroes was released in April 2004.
In September 2009, Cryptic's next major title, the superhero MMORPG Champions Online launched. Their latest release, Neverwinter was released in June 2013.
