Neo Geo Pocket
The Neo Geo Pocket is SNK Playmore's first handheld video game console. The console did not do as well as expected, and had a short life span and small game library.
Overview Neo Geo Pocket, playing a game
The Neo Geo Pocket was the first handheld video game console created by SNK Playmore. It was released in late 1998 in Japan, but its sales caused it to be discontinued in 1999. The console was only released within Japan and Hong Kong. After its discontinuation, it was quickly succeeded by the more successful Neo Geo Pocket Color.
The Neo Geo Pocket is forward compatible, meaning it can play the majority of Neo Geo Pocket Color games. However, there are several games that it cannot play, including Sonic the Hedgehog Pocket Adventure and SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium. The Neo Geo Pocket Color is, however, fully backwards compatible.
